Insecurity, a blessing or foe?

Sunday, September 11, 2011
Everything in this world demands that we embrace the common image of perfection and beauty.  It has blinded us to the true sense of who we are and the beauty that is meant to exist in this corrupted world. It can be exhausting to have consistent strength in our confidence. Sometimes, it's hard to find the appreciation in ourselves. She knows that it takes time to accept one's flaws and embrace them with warm arms. Is it so hard for us to have a moment to learn to do this and not have to face the criticism of others. There is appreciation is flaws that many don't take note of, but God will always see our flaws as the most beautiful structures of our soul. There is no hate in insecurity. There is no pain in insecurity. God will paint our insecurities with his love and deliver the patience we need to embrace them as who we are.

Breaking the Barriers

The faces of people that pass you by on a street are all diverse in character. Each face holds a feeling, story, religion, ethnicity, and tradition. The truth is, we all are aware of this information yet some still find the time to form a judgement and barrier towards that person based on their beliefs or genetic code. How come skin color has become a deciding factor in the layout of one's life? How come someone of a foreign ethnicity is approached with uncertainty and spiteful judgement. She is ready to shout to the world that it's time to get real about these things. Life is about accepting everyone for who they are and everything they believe in. When you actually take the time to do this, you will uncover the extraordinary soul of a fellow human being. Strip away the color barrier and judgement in religion. It's time to break down the walls. It's time to find acceptance.

* "Work at living peace with everyone." Hebrews 12:14

Small things impact lives, yet why do we overlook them?

When she looks up at the sky at falling of the day's light, she sees a remarkable sight of the love of God displayed as marvelous colors and joy. It's like the sky's clouds are staring her straight in the face shouting, "How beautiful you are, I will love you ever more!". Something so simple as the display at dusk is the most life changing thing. The small things in life can be the most glorious sight and display of God's amazing works, yet why do so many people swat them away like bugs. The small things are not to be mistaken as insignificant moments with no recognizable meaning. She wants others to look at the sky and see the love letter written within the clouds. She wants people to stop swatting off the small things and take the time to recognize the beauty in the gifts they are meant to be.

Family within the Heart

We are born into family, there is no choosing which one we belong to. They drive us crazy, yet support our every aspiration. This is her story of family. Living in the small town of Mitchell, GA, (population 192) is no foreign thing to this hometown girl to have the ability to name every resident in their countryside ranch homes. It's the sundays she spends within Mitchell Methodist church where the sound of her mother's melodious voice ring through the pews speaking the powerful messages of hope and faith that remind her of the gift of family. It's the look her father shares with her when he's proud of her many accomplishments. It's smiles found in the pictures of her sister's southern wedding. Family is something that should be cherished and loved for all that it is. Family is a blessing that holds a story and a place in her heart.

Peace of the Future

She has dreams of opening up her own big cat wildlife conservation possibly in Texas? She wants to travel to Africa and take care of the vanishing population of diverse wildlife. When she dreams, she dreams big, and theres alway an open space for the peace she longs to have in her future. For thousands of years, diversities of life have been in conflict with one another. It's almost as if humanity cannot accept the beautiful things they have been given and live life with the purpose of peace. She relies on the concept of "world peace" like people rely on food for the nutrition of their life. Maybe one day she will help millions realize the wasted time in war and hatred. Maybe she will join the peace corps, or open a wildlife conservation. Whichever path this beautiful woman chooses to take in her distant future, it will sure to be a path full of the thirst quenching peace we long to feel.

the cross, the heart, the story that has shaped me.

My story in short,  has everything to do with my faith and the love that it has overflown my cup with. I've gone through a lot in life, nothing worth ranting about, but my trust in God and the love for  my family and my friends is definitely worth shouting to the world. The cross represents my salvation through my faith. It's like the deepest thirst for life has been satisfied. I find comfort in my faith, because it has given me so much; family, friends, college, love, a firm standing in life. I am not quiet sure where exactly I would be at this very moment if I hadn't found my faith in God. The heart stands for the love that has proven itself to me over and over again. Whether it be the love I find in spending time with my family or the love I feel when I am with my boyfriend and friends, love never fails.  So here I am world. You have no right to judge me, because God will be my ultimate judge. Beat me down to ground, rip my dreams apart, but you will never separate me from the love I have for my family and friends,  and my love for God.

1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we  have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[ boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

- Romans 5:1-5

The Project

A simple English 1101 assignment has turned into a project that I have developed the utmost passion in. The past three weeks of college have been strenuous, exciting, and an overall out of this world experience. If you listen quiet enough, around 11:30,  you will hear the strange chorus of three girls belting out their hearts in song. Hannah, Johna and I have found comfort in this continuous routine of singing "It's Oh So Quiet" by Bjork. Especially during awkward, quiet moments we find ourselves having on the walk back to our dorm. This may all seem juvenile, but its our way of letting a message regarding silence develop into a moment where we can release our feelings, laughter, and energy. Within the lyrics of this song are moments of "ssssshhh". We lift our fingers to the edge of our lips and then boom! We sing as uproariously as possible. As I awoke this morning, the idea of the truth behind the silence entered my mind. We all have our secrets, stories, ideas, and movements, yet why do we not let the world know? Are we afraid of the judgement and the public criticism? Maybe it's the fact we think nobody will take the time out of their busy live's to listen to our stories. As you read into this blog, you will be taking the time to listen to the world and their beautiful shouts of silence. Some stories are sad. Some ideas are crazy. Some movements are impossible. Its oh so quiet, but these people are ready to talk.
