The Project

Sunday, September 4, 2011
A simple English 1101 assignment has turned into a project that I have developed the utmost passion in. The past three weeks of college have been strenuous, exciting, and an overall out of this world experience. If you listen quiet enough, around 11:30,  you will hear the strange chorus of three girls belting out their hearts in song. Hannah, Johna and I have found comfort in this continuous routine of singing "It's Oh So Quiet" by Bjork. Especially during awkward, quiet moments we find ourselves having on the walk back to our dorm. This may all seem juvenile, but its our way of letting a message regarding silence develop into a moment where we can release our feelings, laughter, and energy. Within the lyrics of this song are moments of "ssssshhh". We lift our fingers to the edge of our lips and then boom! We sing as uproariously as possible. As I awoke this morning, the idea of the truth behind the silence entered my mind. We all have our secrets, stories, ideas, and movements, yet why do we not let the world know? Are we afraid of the judgement and the public criticism? Maybe it's the fact we think nobody will take the time out of their busy live's to listen to our stories. As you read into this blog, you will be taking the time to listen to the world and their beautiful shouts of silence. Some stories are sad. Some ideas are crazy. Some movements are impossible. Its oh so quiet, but these people are ready to talk.
